Teddy Roosevelt
Rough rider, President, Bull Moose, Mason.
Perhaps only outdone in toughness by Brother Andrew Jackson (who won 13 duels and gave his attempted assassin a good thrashing), Brother Roosevelt lived a life of action creating the National Park Service and the Panama Canal. He knew Judo. As an undergraduate at Harvard his doctor explained that he was an asthmatic and had a weak heart.. at which point he decided to get into shape and climb the Matterhorn!
In
honor of 109th anniversary of Brother Roosevelt receiving his 3rd
degree members of the Lodge are going to meet at Ships Café on
Frederick Rd @ 6:30 to raise a pint to toast one of our famous brothers.
There will also be a contingent of brothers who will embark onto Historic Ellicott City to continue the festivities. Please join us for this sure to
be interesting evening. Age appropriate family and friends welcome!
More details will appear on the website as the date approaches, or call Bro.Matulewicz for additional info.
"According to historian Christopher Hodnap, Teddy Roosevelt tells a humorous story of returning to his hometown Freemason Lodge while still president only to find his gardener had become the Grand Master of the Lodge. Roosevelt and his gardener never discussed this matter, but Roosevelt was subservient to his gardener in all issues related to the Lodge even while president - and he believed that's exactly how it should be."
